South Africa Initiates Anti-Dumping Investigation into Iron or Steel Hex Nuts from China

South Africa’s International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC), acting on behalf of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) comprising South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini, published a notice on Oct. 9, 2026, initiating an anti-dumping investigation into iron or steel hex nuts imported from China. The application was lodged by the South African Fastener Manufacturers Association (SAFMA). The product under investigation is internally threaded, externally hexagonal fasteners classified under South African tariff code 7318.16.

We would advise our customers that a uniform residual anti-dumping duty may apply subsequently, and customers shall assess their procurement plans accordingly. Products such as bolts, washers, flange nuts and stainless steel nuts are not covered by this investigation and can be accepted for orders normally.
